Resources: Bible Gateway

(Clink the banner to visit BibleGateway.com)

Let me begin by saying that I am not connected with BibleGateway.com, any of its affiliates, or any of its contributors.  I have not been in contact with anyone in connection with BibleGateway.com, and nobody in connection BibleGateway.com petitioned me to critique or promote this resource.  My highlighting this site is solely based on my personal, positive, experiences of using this resource over many years in my own doctrinal research and growth.

This, in part, is how BibleGateway.com introduces themselves:

Bible Gateway is a searchable online Bible tool hosting more than 200 versions of the Bible in over 70 languages that you can freely read, research, and reference anywhere. Including a library of audio Bibles, mobile apps, devotionals, email newsletters, and other free resources, Bible Gateway equips you not only to read the Bible, but to understand it.

BibleGateway.com had its beginnings in 1993, grew in 1995, and by 2008 it became a a division of Zondervan publishing.  Since then, it has had many publishers and organizations contribute biblical translations and resources, such as American Bible Society, B&H Publishing, Baker Publishing, Crossway Bibles, HarperCollins Publishers, NavPress, OliveTree Bible Software, Thomas Nelson, and Tyndale House Publishers.

The free access to BibleGateway.com is itself rich and offers not only the many different biblical translations, but to a number of resources.  There are more than 50 bible translations in English, and more than 200 combined translations in more than 70 various languages.

The BibleGateway Plus membership unlocks even more resources including various modern bible dictionaries, popular study bible notes, bible commentaries, bible encyclopedias, maps, bible studies, and more.

The BibleGateway Plus membership is very affordable.  I have used the free BibleGateway.com access for many, many, years for bible study, bible reference, searching scriptures, daily bible readings, etc., but I only recently subscribed to the Plus membership to have great resources at my fingertips.

The Plus membership's normal fee is $4.99 monthly (or $49.99 annually), but they do run promotions for slightly lower rates.  After considering the material access the Plus membership provides from any computer, tablet, or phone with internet access and a browser, I found it to be worth it to be able to research and study from any location whether I'm in the US, in Africa, or anywhere in between.

BibleGateway.com provides the option for side-by-side parallel bible translations, cross-references, footnotes, red-letter, etc.  It also provides an area for note-taking.  Plus membership provides access to not only the additional study material, but to features such as Greek / Hebrew word reference.

BibleGateway.com not just a website, it is also available from the Apple Store and Google Play.

Whether you choose to take advantage of a more-than-reasonable membership or continue only with the free access, BibleGateway.com is a great resource for biblical access wherever your are.
